about

Paul develops curriculum resources for the performing arts classroom with an emphasis on improving musical literacy across grade levels through standards-based assessment. He also creates original music as a composer and songwriter, experimenting in musical theatre and popular styles. Currently a doctoral student in Education Policy Studies at Indiana University Bloomington, his research interests center around equity and access in K-12 arts education.

While completing his Master's degree, Paul recently served as Community Engagement Fellow at the Rogers Center for the Arts where he collaborated on immersive, event-style programming and led associated marketing efforts. His culminating Master's capstone project analyzed policies that impact arts education in the United States and made recommendations toward a new model of community-engaged arts education.

Paul previously served as the Performing Arts Coordinator at St. John’s Lutheran Church and School in Marysville, Ohio where he taught general music, choir, band, theatre, and technology education to students kindergarten through 8th grade.  While at St. John's, he developed an extensive performance program and founded a series of collaborative ministries between the church, school, and community.  Prior to his work in private school education, Paul served as an Instrumental Director at Olmsted Falls Middle School teaching band to students in 5th through 8th grades. He also served as Woodwind Caption Head for the Westerville Central High School Marching Band for four seasons.

Paul has taught private lessons on piano and flute and has worked with music programs across central Ohio. He maintains an active professional teacher's license in the state of Ohio and holds a Master of Education in Community Engagement from Merrimack College, a Bachelor of Music Education from Otterbein University, and a Professional Certificate in Lyric Writing from Berklee College of Music.
